Water

Water

A wonder it is, the softest thing,

Fairly easy to walk through.

Yet it wears away the hardest rock,

And makes rainbows out of dew.

Holds two-thirds of the world’s creatures-

Protects the fragilest of them all.

And I and many would assume-

Without it there wouldn’t be a you.

But think about the other way also-

It destroyed the world once too!

So do we keep it or do we not-

The decision is up to you.

My Biography of Shel Silverstein

Shel Silverstein was born in 1932. He was not only a poet, but also an author, songwriter, composer, cartoonist, play writer, and singer. He started to draw when he was five by tracing an artist he admired. When he was around twelve, he would rather be playing ball with the other boys, but he was no good at ball. He also had no one to copy either, so he started his own style. This was when he really got into drawing and writing.

Later on, he joined the army and worked as a cartoonist for the military. After working in the military, he was hired as staff cartoonist for Playboy.

He started writing children’s books when he was introduced to someone who encouraged and first gave him the idea. He wrote a few children’s books, including Light in the Attic, a collection of poems.

Later, he got drawn to folk music and began a career as a composer. He wrote a song that was a number one hit, and composed music for a film.

He died of a heart attack in 1999, in Florida.

Hotel Inn - March 2010

Hotel Inn

Hotel Inn is a special inn. Its five stars! It serves as an inn and a restaurant.

There is a huge lobby with a snack bar, and awesome rooms! There are four balcony rooms. Each balcony room is extended from the side of the second floor. They are balconies with a glass covering, so the whole room’s a window! But in case you want some privacy, there are shades to pull up too, but the top is left open so you can see the stars at night!

If you’re an inside person, don’t worry, we have something for you too. There are four other rooms on the fourth floor and the second floor (inside the building). They are completely without windows.

And, if you’re not interested in a special stay, on the third floor we have two regular, classic-style rooms.

Hotel Inn also serves as a restaurant, for travelers in the hotel, or if you just live next door. It has a rooftop restaurant, also five star! Like the balcony rooms, it also is like a huge window. The elevator for Hotel Inn comes right up the middle!

Here are the costs for Hotel Inn:
Balcony rooms………………………………………...600$(per person per day)
No-windows and Classic style……………………..400$ (per person per day)

Notice: The rooms are NOT equipped with bathrooms. Public bathrooms are down at the lobby.

Memories of White - Feb 2010

Memories of White

In the blink of an eye,
Snow falls from the sky,
Landing in the grass so shy.

Down they fall,
In little balls,
Saying good-bye to fall.

As swarms of them come,
Covering the ground,
Slowly, a blanket is found.

Children inside shout, “It’s snowing! Hey!”
Gazing up at a sky so gray,
So out they go in the snow to play.

Boot prints trampling the smooth, white shell,
All the neighborhood kids yell, ringing their bells, “Winter is here! Quick, go tell!”

So memories last in a little white town,
Of boot prints trampling, the squishy-squash sound.
